Check Task Manager
Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. On the Processes tab, sort by CPU and by Memory. If one app is consistently above ~30% while you are doing nothing, close it and reopen. If it comes back immediately, note the name before the next step.
Slow Windows machines are usually a mix of startup load, a full disk, and background updates. Work top to bottom. Stop if you are asked for an admin password you do not control.

In Task Manager open the Startup apps tab. Disable items you do not need at boot (chat, updaters, trial software). Leave antivirus and video drivers enabled. Restart once and time how long it takes to become usable.
Open Settings → System → Storage. If the system drive is under 10% free, Windows will feel stuck. Empty Recycle Bin, remove unused apps, and move large videos off the C: drive. Avoid random “cleaner” utilities.
Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates. Install, restart, then check again. A PC that has been skipping updates for months often stalls during background servicing.
If the PC is still slow after a restart, or Task Manager shows System, Service Host, or antimalware using CPU for more than 15 minutes, a remote session can check disk health, drivers, and malware without guesswork.
